Japanese GT 2011

The pairing of Nobuteru Taniguchi and Taku Bamba took victory at Motegi, Japan, to secure the Autobacs Super GT Series GT300 title on 16 October 2011.

The Japanese duo, equipped with a YOKOHAMA-shod BMW Z4 GT3, were on pole for the 49-lap race courtesy of a fastest lap time of 2:04.356 in qualifying, while Hiroyuki Iiri and Yuho Sekiguchi secured third with a 2:05.296.

In the race itself, Taniguchi and Bamba took a comfortable lights to flag victory to claim 20 valuable championship points, enough to seal them the title. Elsewhere, YOKOHAMA-supplied cars took seven of the top ten spots to cement the tyre manufacturer’s reputation.
