German Formula 3 - 2010 Oschersleben

Danish driver Kevin Magnussen wowed the crowds at the first round of the YOKOHAMA-supported ATS Formula 3 Cup in Oschersleben, Germany, on 10-11 April 2010. Having set the fourth fastest lap time during the first qualifying session of the weekend, and sixth in the second, Magnussen had two fantastic race starts to secure the race one victory and second place in race two.
Van Amersfoort Racing’s Daniel Abt who secured pole position for race one on the German circuit having set a fastest lap time of 1:20.477 in his Dallara F307 Volkswagen. Meanwhile, HS Technik Motorsport’s Tom Dillman secured the race two pole, with Dusseldorp and Abt second and third.
Unfortunately for Abt, Magnussen had a strong start from fourth on the grid, taking the lead early in race one and maintaining his position until the chequered. Behind, Dusseldorp had managed to maintain second place, with Abt crossing the line third to complete the race one podium.
In race two, pole-sitter Dillman received a 30-second penalty after jumping the start, allowing Dusseldorp to claim the race two win. Magnussen had another strong start, jumping from sixth to third at the green flag, maintaining his position to claim a third-place finish with Abt fourth, both of whom were promoted by one place due to Dillman’s penalty.
The first round of the season puts rookie driver Magnussen at the top of the championship standings, German driver Abt is second and Dutchman Dusseldorp third. The next ATS Formula 3 Cup race weekend takes place 8-9 May 2010 at Sachsenring, Germany.
