German Formula 3 - 2009 Sachsenring

Laurens Vanthoor secured another victory in round 16 of the ATS German Formula 3 Cup at the Sachsenring, Germany, on 19-20 September 2009.

Race one was dominated by Tom Dillmann, who after qualifying second on Saturday, passed Vanthoor on the first lap and drove straight to the chequered flag. Stef Dusseldorp crossed the line second, in front of HS Technik Motorsport’s Harald Schlegelmilch.

Starting on pole for race two, the 2009 champion Vanthoor managed to pull away in the early stages of the race creating a gap between him and the rest of the field, that allowed the Belgian driver to secure the race two victory. Behind him Peter Elkmann and Dillmann started a hard fight for second, with Elkmann eventually crossing the line second and Dillmann third.
