Scandinavian Touring Car Cup - Goteborg, race report
07 Jun 10
Rounds three and four of the new Scandinavian Touring Car Cup took place at Göteborg, Sweden, on 5-6 June 2010. Volvo Olsbergs Green Racing’s Robert Dahlgren dominated the weekend, claiming pole during Saturday’s qualifying and the race one victory in his Volvo C30.
Having set a fastest lap of 47.123 around the Swedish track, Dahlgren started on pole, ahead of Team Bauhaus’ Jan Magnussen, pulling away during the early stages to cross the line 3.556 seconds ahead of his closest rival. Behind Swedish driver, Magnussen and Danish Mattias Andersson were fighting for second place, when a technical issue forced Magnussen to retire and allowed his rival to finish second, followed by Fredrik Ekblom third.
After starting fourth on the grid in race two, Richard Göransson had a strong start behind-the-wheel of his BMW 320.si and managed to take the lead early on in the race to secure his first win of the season. Team Biogas.Se’s Patrick Olsson crossed the finish line second after starting on pole, followed by Ekblom, who claimed his second third-place finish of the weekend.
Dahlgren now leads the Drivers’ Standings with 65 points, followed by Göransson with 50 and Robert Schlünssen who is third with 41 points.
Rounds five and six of the Scandinavian Touring Car Cup will take place in Jyllandsringen, Denmark, on 4-5 September 2010.
